Toucan Box

Toucan Box is a new subscription service that sends a monthly box of brilliant creative science and craft activities to children aged 3 to 8 years old. Each box is themed, and contains everything needed to keep children engaged for hours in an educational and creative way, including all the materials to complete the projects, colourful step by step instruction manuals, and a book.

The company was founded in 2012 by Virginie Charles-Dear, a mother of three. Together with friend Sara Barokas, a former Montessori school teacher, they developed the concept of toucanBox to provide a solution to busy parents who, despite their best intentions, often lack the time and creativity to put together craft projects themselves (a feeling most of us know only too well!). toucanBox removes the stress of pre-planning and shopping for materials, so families can concentrate on spending quality time building, imagining and creating together.

Each project is designed to stimulate children’s creativity and curiosity, and to encourage key development skills such as concentration, numeracy, fine and gross motor skills, and problem solving. The boxes are tailored to suit each child’s development stage, and the content of the box differs accordingly.

The boxes are available in 3 sizes:

  • Petite toucanBox: delivered fortnightly, contains 1 activity and fits through the letter box (£5.95)
  • Grande toucanBox: delivered monthly, contains 2 activities and a book (£12.90)
  • Super toucanBox: delivered monthly, contains 4 activities and a book (£19.90)

You can also get a FREE Petite Taster Box with Barnes Mums when you subscribe to Toucan Box. Just click this link and enter the coupon code ‘awbox19’.
