February Half Term

Almost half-term already… how did that happen?! If you’re looking for ways to entertain the kids, we’ve pulled together a listing of holiday camps and activities that are going on in the area. The listing is divided into half-term activities that you generally do together as a family, and drop-off camps and workshops which range from a couple of hours to a full day. We’re still in the process of adding things as and when we hear about them, so if you know of any more please do get in touch and let us know. FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Fulham Palace

23rd February, 11.00am-3.00pm: Family Fun Day: The Kingmaker at Fulham Palace. On this day in 1689 the succession of King William III and Queen Mary II was confirmed by Parliament. The Bishop of London, Henry Compton, risked his life when he joined other noblemen and invited William to take the throne from King James II. Explore this period of intrigue, rebellion and treason. There’ll be activities and crafts including secret letters and hands on archaeology. Free; suitable for 3+yrs.

Ham House

15th to 23rd February, 12.00-4.00pm: Poetree at Ham House. Sit beneath the ‘Poetree’, find your inspiration, and add your creation to its branches. Explore and create this half term with a family trail that calls you to use your senses to discover what inspires you. Feel words, notice sounds and find your inspiration in the beauty all around you at Ham House and Garden. Sensory trail for children £2.00 plus normal admission charges apply.

Hampton Court Palace

15th to 23rd February, 11.00am-4.00pm: Elizabeth I & Her Spymasters at Hampton Court Palace in East Molesey. Queen Elizabeth I’s spymasters are back at Hampton Court Palace with more clues to solve, evidence to uncover and treasonous conspiracies to stop. There is a new threat to the Queen’s throne from her closest courtiers and relatives. Elizabeth has chosen not to marry and hasn’t named an heir, but her courtiers think they may have a solution. Become a spy, meet Elizabeth’s courtiers and listen in on secret conversations. Find out who is not to be trusted and who gets into trouble for being disloyal to the Queen. Help her to decide their punishment! Schedule of activities throughout the day around the Palace. Included in normal admission.

London Museum Of Water And Steam

15th to 23rd February, 10.00am-4.00pm: Science Week at the London Museum Of Water & Steam, Green Dragon Lane in Brentford. This half term, visit the London Museum of Water & Steam for sciencey fun!Watch the fantastic all new Wet and Bubbly Science Show, everyday at 2.00pm. Build your own mega tower with loads of different materials. Join in with story time, weekdays at 11.00am. Find the science facts hidden around the Museum. They will also be hosting the Association of 16mm Railway Gauge Modellers, who will be in the Museum from the 15th-20th. This is a brilliant chance to see model locomotives up close in steam in the Steam Hall. Normal entry fees apply. Plus KIDS GO FREE and adults only £10.00 with Twick Mums! London Wetland Centre

15th to 23rd February, 9.30am-4.30pm: Puddle Jumping Championships at the London Wetland Centre, Queen Elizabeth’s Walk in Barnes. Splashing, muddy fun this February Half term! Come rain or shine, the Puddle Jumping Championships is the perfect activity for the whole family. Put on your wellies, get out into nature, get muddy and have a splashing time! Take on the challenge of the Puddle Jumping obstacle course, competing against your family and friends to see who can make the biggest splash. Normal admission charges apply.

Museum Of Richmond

18th to 21st February, 10.00am-12.00pm: Princess Mary Gift Boxes Workshops at the Museum Of Richmond, Whittaker Avenue in Richmond. Discover how WWI affected the lives of Richmond residents and the story of Maurice Tribe who lived in Queen’s Road. After handling Museum objects and exploring Maurice’s story, you will get to make your own Princess Mary Gift Boxes to take home. For ages 5-11yrs. £5.50 per child (adults free). Booking essential and can be done online.

Osterley Park

15th to 23rd February, 11.00am-3.00pm: The Tiger Who Came To Tea at Osterley Park & House, Jersey Road in Isleworth. Judith Kerr’s much loved 1968 classic will be brought to life at Osterley this winter, complete with a life size tiger to cuddle and displays of illustrations to delight all tiger-loving generations. The exhibition features displays of Judith Kerr’s illustrations and gives children the chance to step into Sophie’s kitchen to have tea with the tiger himself. Children will also get involved with crafts and dressing up. Normal admission charges apply, and it is advisable to book a time slot.

Camp Beaumont

For children from 3 to 16 years old.

These camps take place at Christ’s School, Queen’s Road in Richmond. They offer children the opportunity to try things they have never had the chance to do before under the guidance of the camp leaders and key workers. They have something for everyone, whatever the age, from the quietest to most energetic child. 

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.00am-4.30pm with the option to extend from 8.00am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £48.00, with a discount available for booking three days or more. You can book via their website.

Excel Sports

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps take place at Kings House Sports Ground, Riverside Drive in Dukes Meadows (just the other side of Chiswick Bridge). They offer wonderful, safe, action-packed multi-sports camps, with superb tuition delivered by professional sports coaches who are also great fun! Sports include tennis, football, netball, hockey, cricket, rounders, dodgeball, athletics and more.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.00am-3.00pm with half day options available from 9.00-11.30am or 12.30-3.00pm. The daily cost is £35.00 with a discount available for booking a whole week; half-days cost £18.00. You can book via their website.

Fit For Sport

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps takes place at Barnes Primary School, Cross Street in Barnes, Meadlands Primary School, Broughton Avenue in Ham, and Sheen Mount Primary School in West Temple Sheen. They are a great way for children to keep active, have fun, make new friends, try something new and take part in a whole range of activities and sports.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February from 9.30am-4.30pm with the option to extend from 8.30am-5.30pm (Ham & East Sheen) or 8.00am-6.00pm (Barnes), and with a half day option at Barnes & East Sheen for younger children from 9.30am-1.00pm. The basic daily cost is £29.50-£37.50 (£24.50-£28.50 for a half-day), depending on location. You can book via their website.

Friends Of Barnes Common 

For children aged 7+ years.

These camps takes place at Vine Road Recreation Ground in Barnes. Children will be exploring, growing, making, & juggling in art, nature, crafty science and circus workshops.

Funsport

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Queens School, Cumberland Road in Kew. Their innovative programme of games, activities and sport practices focuses on enhancing a child’s ABCs – Agility, Balance, and Co-ordination – the fundamentals of sporting performance.

The camps tale place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.00am-4.00pm, with the option to extend from 8.00am-5.00pm, and half day options for younger children from 9.00am-12.00pm or 1.00-4.00pm. The basic daily cost is £25.00 (£15.00 for a half day). You can book online.

KOOSA Kids

For children aged 4 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Orleans Park School, Richmond Road in Twickenham; Teddington Sports Centre, Broom Road in Teddington; Whitton Sports Centre, Percy Road in Whitton; St Mary’s Primary School, Oldfield Road in Hampton; and Shene Sports Centre, Park Avenue in East Sheen. Children will enjoy five days with a World Explorers theme, with their days packed full of fun, craft and sporting activities.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 10.00am-4.00pm, with the option to extend from 8.15am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £21.50, with a discount available for booking the whole week. If you have three children, the 3rd child goes absolutely free! The Little Gym Chiswick

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, Hartington Road in Chiswick (just off the A316). They include super quest camps for 3-8yrs, full of exciting creative missions that will exercise muscle, imaginations and cooperation skills; fun skill thrill camps for 6-12yrs that will take your child’s gymnastic skills to the next level; as well as a dance camp (3-12yrs) and karate camp (4-12yrs).

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.30am-12.30pm or 1.30-4.30pm, with the option to extend to include lunch, or to stay for the whole day. The cost for a half-day camp is £48.00 for non-members. For more information or to book, call 020 8994 3729.

The Little Gym Hampton & Teddington

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, High Street in Hampton Hill. They include super quest camps for 3-8yrs, full of exciting creative missions that will exercise muscle, imaginations and cooperation skills; and fun skill thrill camps for 5-12yrs that will take your child’s gymnastic skills to the next level.

London Welsh Rugby

For children aged 6 to 12 years.

These camps take place at London Welsh Rugby Club in Old Deer Park, Kew Road in Richmond. Children will enjoy coaching which focuses on catching & passing, decision making, support & evasion, aerial catching, skill development and tackle technique – through the use of games and game scenarios making it a thoroughly fun experience. It is suitable for all, whether an experienced player or completely new to the game.

The camps take place between 18th – 20th February, from 9.30am-3.00pm. They cost £40.00 per day or £100.00 for all three days. You can book online.

Mother Nature Science

For children aged 5 to 12 years old.

These camps take place at Kings House School, Kings Road in East Sheen and at The Queens School, Cumberland Road in Kew. Children will enjoy a great mix of exciting demonstrations, hands-on experiments, team games and fun quizzes. Over the week your child can take part in 30+ science activities and demonstrations.

The camps take place between 17th – 21sr February, from 9.00am-3.30pm, with the option to extend from 8.30am-4.00pm. The basic daily cost is £70.00, or £285.00 for the week (limited availability for daily places). You can book online or by calling 020 8863 8832.

NS Sports

For children aged 4 to 11 years.

These camps take place at East Sheen Primary School, Upper Richmond Road West in East Sheen; and at St Osmund’s Primary School, Church Road in Barnes. Children can choose form a multi-activity camp including two sports sessions, an outdoor events session, arts and crafts, indoor and a free choice play session; or a football-only camp.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.45am-4.15pm, with the option to extend from 8.00am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £24.00, with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book online.

Rocks Lane Barnes

For children aged 3 to 16 years.

These camps take place at Rocks Lane Multi-Sport Centre in Barnes. Rocks Lane prides itself on its excellent coaching, all weather facilities, and a diverse range of sporting opportunities; and there are a range of tennis, football, netball and multi-sports camps on offer for all ages and abilities.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February at various times ranging from 2 to 5 hours long. Rocks Lane operates a ‘holiday credits’ scheme whereby you purchase credits up front then call to book onto a specific course. Credits range from £7.00 each (when buying 40) to £11.50 each (when buying 1), and camps range from 2 to 4 credits. Alternatively, a 2hr camp costs £20.00 and a 5hr camp costs £35.00. Sheen Parks Tennis

For children aged 2 to 12 years.

These three-day camps take place at Sheen Common, Fife Road in East Sheen; King George’s Field, at Ham Street in Ham; and at Cambridge Gardens, Clevedon Road in East Twickenham. These fun packed holiday camps are for children of all abilities to help develop essential tennis skills.

The three-day camps take place between 17th – 19th February, with half hour sessions for tots (3/4yrs), and 2-3.5hr sessions for older children (5-15yrs) each day. Tots camps cost £27.00 for all three days, and the camps for older children cost £95.00-£115.00 for all three days, depending on the length of the camp. You can book online.

Springboard Swimmers

For children aged 3 to 7 years.

These intensive courses take place at Stanley School, Strathmore Road in Teddington; and at St Richard’s School, Woodville Road in Richmond. They are aimed at non-swimmers and beginners; children needing stroke improvement. If you haven’t done a holiday intensive course before, you will be amazed at how much progress is made in one week!

The intensive courses take place between 17th – 21st February with a half-hour slot at the same time each day, with the same tutor and the same group of three children. The cost is £85.00 per child for the week. To book, download an application form and email it to admin@springboardswimmers.com to arrange the most appropriate time and group.

Thames Young Mariners Adventure Zone

For children from 6 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Thames Young Mariners, Riverside Drive in Ham. There are Young Explorers camps for 6/7yrs focussing on different team challenges through the week, and Multi-Activity camps for 8-13yrs, with activities such as archery, climbing, team tasks and woodland skills.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.30am-4.30pm. The camps cost £47.00 per day. You can book online.

Top Tennis

For children aged 3 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Barnes Tennis Club, Lonsdale Road in Barnes. are a great way to introduce children to sport in a fun environment. Each session includes coaching, team games and play.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, with different time slots for different age groups: 3-7yrs 9.00-11.00pm; 8-10yrs 11.00am-1.00pm; 10-14yrs 1.00-3.00pm. The cost is £20.00 per day for non-members, with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book online.

Tree House Learning

For children aged 3 to 7+ years.

These camps take place at Ham Common Woods. Children will enjoy forest school fun, including activities such as building forts, dens, scavenger hunts, stories, woodland craft, bug hunting, rope swings, tools and group games.

The camps take place between 17th – 20th February, from 10.00am-3.00pm. The daily cost is £35.00. You can book online.

Wild Learning

For children aged 5 to 11 years.

These camps takes place on Sheen Common in East Sheen. Find your way through the woods to the base camp, maybe stopping on the way to play hide and seek in the oak clearing, or Ninja Frisbee on the meadow before den building, rope swinging or crafts at main camp.

The camps take place on the 18th & 19th February, from 10.00am-4.00pm. The daily cost is £47.00. You can book online.

Wurkshop

For children aged 7+ years.

These workshops take place at Wurkshop, The Mews behind 46-52 Church Road in Barnes. A whole week of stunning arts and crafts – you can either book the whole week for a discount or take individual courses.  The workshops offer children the opportunity to learn new techniques and practice core creative skills. Workshops include framed mirrors; pet portraits; carve, print & frame; baskets & chocolate eggs; graffiti & t-shirt; and make a skateboard. Your child will come home with beautiful creations and a new, dynamic, flexible skill-set.

The workshops take place between 15th – 22nd February, from 10.00am-4.00pm. The carve, print & frame workshop runs over two days. They cost £95.00-£105.00 per day, depending on the workshop and include all materials. You can book online.
