Christmas Fairs, Lights & Markets

Here’s our round up of the Christmas fairs, lights and markets in the area. As ever, they start very early! Saturday 16th November

– 10.00am-3.00pm: Christmas Market, OSO Arts Centre

Station Road (entrance by the pond), Barnes SW13: Start your Christmas with a visit to the many stalls selling handcrafted presents, stocking fillers and clothes.

Thursday 21st November

– 12.00-6.30pm: Christmas Lights Switch On & Festivities, Richmond Town Centre

Various locations, Richmond TW10: The Christmas Market on Hill Rise (12.00-7.00pm) is the perfect place to get your Christmas shopping off to a flying start. All items are from local designer makers and, to keep you cosy whilst you shop, there will be festive foodie treats along with a warm mug of mulled-wine or hot chocolate.. Take the little ones to Santa’s Grotto, magical garden and Christmas fair at The Vineyard Community Centre, The Vineyard, TW10 6AQ from 2.00-6.00pm (£2.50 including a gift, face painting and other festive activities). All proceeds go towards helping the homeless. At 5.45pm the magnificent Band of The Irish Guards will perform at Richmond Riverside before leading a parade of Richmond schoolchildren to the main stage in George Street (close to Tesco Metro and Russell & Bromley) and the area will be a hive of festive activity from 5.00-6.30pm. Lights will be switched on by PADDINGTON at around 6.15pm. This year, the lights will have much wider coverage throughout the town, with a special display feature at the station. The event will close with a spectacular firework display on Richmond Green at around 6.45pm.

Saturday 23rd November

– 10.00am-3.00pm: St Mary’s Christmas Fair, Kitson Hall

Kitson Road, Barnes SW13: Christmas gifts and cards, jewellery, tombola, garden gifts and plants, homemade cakes and preserves, bric-a-brac, toys, raffle & silent auction, all day cafe. Supporting Barnes Green Day Centre, FiSH, Castelnau Community Centre, Glass Door and Under Tree Schools.

Saturday 30th November

– 11.00am: Barn Church Christmas Fair, Barn Church

Atwood Avenue, Kew TW9: Time to start the festive season at the Barn! Inspiration for presents will be found on the craft stalls, there will be delicious food, live music and entertainment. Fun for all the family, and everyone else in the community at this lovely event in the beautiful Barn Church.

Tuesday 3rd December

– 5.00-8.00pm: White Hart Lane Christmas Shopping Event, Barnes

White Hart Lane, Barnes SW13: Stroll down White Hart Lane on their Christmas Charity Night and explore the charming independent shops and businesses. Enjoy a glass or two of mulled wine or prosecco with some delicious street food. Get into the festive spirit with Father Christmas, live music, children’s crafts and lots more. Buy a ticket for the hottest raffle in town with generous prizes from businesses on White Hart Lane. All proceeds of the evening are donated to Homestart.

Friday 6th December

– 3.00-8.00pm: BCA Christmas Festival, Barnes

Various locations, Barnes SW13: There will be carol singing throughout Barnes and a newly designed Grotto for Father Christmas based at Rose House. The shops will be staying open until late and there will be new fairground attractions on Barnes Green with some food and drink stalls and a Christmas Fair at The OSO with a bar ,festive food and live music throughout the night.

– 3.15-6.00pm: Christmas Fair, Lowther Primary School

Stillingfleet Road, Barnes SW13: Abundant festivities including Christmas carols; Santa’s grotto; teddy, wine & chocolate tombola; raffle; face painting; hair braiding; jewellery sale; portrait stand; lots of fun activities and many more stalls. Lots of food & drink, with hot dogs, hot drinks, Prosecco, mulled wine, mince pies, popcorn and sweet jars. Lowther would love you to join them at this magical family afternoon to help kick start the festive season.

– 5.00-8.00pm: Kew Sparkle, Kew Village

Various locations, Kew Village TW9: THE family Christmas event in Kew – organised by the local community – Kew Sparkle features carols from local schools, carousels and rides, stalls featuring local food & drink and also stalls with fabulous ideas for Christmas gifts. There will be a raffle too.The Village will be decorated with beautiful Christmas lights and many people are helping to fundraise. All profits go to charity – this year the Kew Sparkle is supporting the Vineyard Community Centre (VCC).

Friday 6th December – Sunday 8th December

– 10.00am-6.00pm (Friday & Saturday) & 10.00am-4.30pm (Sunday): Festive Fayre, Hampton Court Palace

East Moseley KT8: Eat, drink and be merry as the Hampton Court Palace courtyards are transformed into a food-lover’s Christmas wonderland. Among the chefs and experts joining the Palace for live cookery demonstrations are Chris Bavin, Barney Desmazery and Marcus Bean. Soak up the atmosphere and spirit of the season with sing-along festive classics, with fabulous food and drink. Browse unique gift stalls and watch seasonal cooking demos live in The Kitchen. With everything from Christmas pudding to sausages, and brownies to churros, the 100 hand-picked artisan producers and companies are guaranteed to delight even the most committed foodie.

Saturday 7th & Saturday 14th December

– 10.00am-4.00pm: Etsy Made Local, Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College

Parkshot, Richmond TW9: The best of locally designed and lovingly handmade gifts this Christmas, celebrating the makers, designers and collectors that make up the Etsy creative community, with products ranging from homewares and art to fashion, accessories, seasonal gifts, and much more.
