Summer Holiday Camps & Workshops

With the summer holidays just around the corner, you might be wondering how you’re going to keep the little ones entertained. Well, help is at hand! We’ve done the hard work for you, and pulled together a pretty comprehensive listing of the summer holiday camps and workshops that are going on in the area. Although we can’t say that we’ve tried all these out personally, they all come on recommendation and your kids are sure to have a lot of fun! If you know of any more, please do get in touch and let us know.

NB We have quoted prices here, but it’s worth checking direct as lots of places offer early bird and sibling/buddy discounts.

 

Activ Camps

For children aged 4 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Barn Elms Sports Trust, Queen Elizabeth Walk in Barnes and at Barnes Sports Club, Lonsdale Road in Barnes. Children will enjoy fun-packed multi-activity camps run by fully trained, enthusiastic staff who create a happy and safe environment. Every day is full of fun activities, including dodgeball, motor sports, inflatables, water slides, indoor rock climbing, swimming, crazy crash mats, foam stick hockey, archery… the list goes on and on.

The camps take place weekdays (excluding bank holidays) between 10th July – 1st September, from 8.30am-4.30pm (9.00am-1.00pm for 4 year olds), with a free extension until 5.30pm available on request. The cost is £37.00 per day (£25.00 for 4 year olds), with various discounts available. You can book via their website.

 

Annabel Croft Tennis Academy

For children aged 4 to 13 years.

These camps take place at the National Tennis Centre, Priory Lane in Roehampton. Children will enjoy a fantastic mix of technical learning, footwork drills and match play exercises, as well as lots of opportunities to play some of ACTA’s favourite tennis games.

The camps take place weekdays between 10th July – 31st August, from 10.00am-1.00pm. The cost is £40.00 per day for 4-6 year olds and £50.00 per day for 7-13 year olds, with a discount available for booking a whole week. Barnes Cricket Club

For children aged 6 to 15 years.

These camps take place at Barnes Cricket Club, Lonsdale Road in Barnes. Children will enjoy five action-packed days of cricket delivered by one of the largest coaching teams in London. Boys and girls of all abilities welcome.

The camps take place between 24th – 28th July and 7th – 11th August, from 10.00am-3.00pm. The cost is £150.00 per week, with a sibling discount available. You can download a registration form from their website.

 

Barnes Film Academy

For children aged 8 to 15 years.

This five-day workshop takes place at Barnes Sports Club, Lonsdale Road in Barnes. The programme allows children to get involved in all aspects of filmmaking and being on a production site – brainstorming ideas for the narrative and plot-line, designing costumes and looks of the characters, creating the lines of their own characters and, fundamentally, enjoying themselves! All students have the opportunity to be behind as well as in front of the camera, and to learn and utilise professional camera, sound and filmmaking equipment. No previous experience is required.

Barnes Summer Play School

For children aged 3 to 7 years

This summer play school takes place at The Village Nursery on Barnes Green (at the back of the Methodist Church). Children will spend most of the day in gay abandon with nothing else on their minds but playing! Activities include sand, water, pay-dough, building, clay, painting, dressing up, yoga, French & Spanish lessons, and more. Short outings take place on the local commons and a day out with a picnic and a butterfly net at nearby Richmond Park is enjoyed by all.

The summer play school takes place weekdays between 24th July – 25th August, from 9.30am-3.30pm. The cost is £49.00 per day (£29.00 per half-day), or £175.00 for a week. You can book via their website.

 

Barnes Tennis Club

For children aged 3 to 10 years.

These camps take place at Barnes Tennis Club, Lonsdale Road in Barnes. are a great way to introduce children to sport in a fun environment. Each session includes coaching, team games and play.

The camps take place between 24th – 28th July and 28th August – 1st September, with different time slots for different age groups: 3-4yrs 9.15-10.00am; 5-10yrs 10.00am-12.00pm. The daily cost also varies by age group: 3-4yrs £7.00; 5-10yrs £15.00, with a sibling discount available. For more information or to book, please email Jane Bonner.

 

Best Tennis

For children aged 3 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Barn Elms Sports Trust, Queen Elizabeth Walk in Barnes. They offer fun packed tennis camps with a combination of technical learning, matchplay and games. Older children can book the whole day, which will include tennis with netball. Player to coach ratios are always kept low.

The camps take place weekdays between 17th July – 25th August, with different time slots for different ages groups: 3-5yrs 10.00-10.45am; 5-8yrs 11.00am-1.00pm; 8-14yrs 1.00-3.00pm (or from 10.00am to include netball too). The cost also varies by age group: 3-5yrs £55.00 per week; 5-8yrs £110.00 per week; 8-14yrs £110.00 (£150.00 to include netball) per week. You can book via their website.

 

Big Top Adventures

For children aged 8 to 12 years.

These adventures take place at interesting, fun and exciting venues in and around London, with huge emphasis on stimulating the children and educating them without losing their attention. Children are taken  on lots of different excursions using public transport, riverboats, or a coach for longer journeys. Big Toppers can enjoy excursions including museums, art galleries, Imax 3D cinema, biking in Richmond Park, river trips, Brighton for the day, HMS Belfast, Hampton Court Palace, the Serpentine boating lake, and more.

The adventures take place between 25th July – 26th August, from 9.30am-3.30pm. The cost is £59.00 per day, or £195.00 for the week. You can book via their website.

 

Dreamcatcher Film Camps

For children aged 8 to 18 years.

These camps take place at The Falcons Prep School, Kew Foot Road in Richmond. Children will make their very own short film over five days and take a copy home on DVD. They will come up with their own idea for a film, then set about scripting, story boarding, shooting, directing and editing it under expert tuition from industry professionals. It’s all great fun but good learning too, and young wannabe filmmakers finish the course equipped to make their own movies.

The five-day camps takes place between 10th July – 11th August, from 9.00am-2.00pm. The cost for all five days is £275.00, with a sibling discount available. You can book online.

 

Eddie Catz

For children aged 3.5 to 11 years.

These workshops take place at Eddie Catz on Putney High Street (entrance on Lacy Road). There are a variety of workshops on offer to cater for all tastes, including ones with Creation Station, Dance Grooves, Funky Monkey, and Playball.

The workshops take place on various dates between 25th July – 29th August, from 10.00am-1.00pm/2.00pm. They cost £25.00-£40.00 per child depending on the workshop. For more information take a look at Eddie Catz’ website, where you can also book online.

 

Excel Sports

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps take place at Kings House Sports Ground, Riverside Drive in Chiswick (just the other side of Chiswick Bridge). They offer wonderful, safe, action-packed multi-sports camps, with superb tuition delivered by professional sports coaches who are also great fun! Sports include tennis, football, rugby, cricket, rounders, athletics and more.

The camps take place between 10th July – 1st September, from 9.00am-3.00pm with half day options available from 9.00-11.30am or 12.30-3.00pm. The daily cost is £35.00 with a discount available for booking a whole week; half-days cost £18.00. You can download a booking form from their website, and they are happy for people to show up on the day as long as there is space.

 

Fit For Sport

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps takes place at Barnes Primary School, Cross Street in Barnes and at Sheen Mount Primary School in West Temple Sheen. They are a great way for children to keep active, have fun, make new friends, try something new and take part in a whole range of activities and sports.

The camps take place weekdays (excluding bank holidays) between 24th July – 1st September, from 9.30am-4.30pm with the option to extend from 8.00am-6.00pm (Barnes) or 8.30am-5.30pm (East Sheen), or a half day option for younger children from 9.30am-1.00pm. The basic daily cost is £27.00-£32.00 (£20.25-£24.00 for a half-day). You can book via their website.

 

Friends Of Barnes Common

For children under 7 years & their grown-ups, or in Year 3 and above independently.

These camps take place on Barnes Common or at Vine Road Recreation Ground. Mondays and Tuesdays are for under 7s and their grown ups – children will enjoy nature activities, sowing, growing, harvesting, watering and laughing. Wednesdays and Thursdays are for children entering Year 3 in September and above, and involve science and art activities – experiments, discovery, art in nature, role play, circus skills and more.

The camps take place between 24th July – 17th August, from 10.15am-12.15pm. They are FREE but you need to book – email Sharon at education@barnescommon.org.uk.

 

KOOSA Kids

For children aged 4 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Shene Sports Centre, Park Avenue in East Sheen. The focus is about having as much fun as possible, with a huge programme of activities on offer, to suit both the sporty and more creative child. Activities include go karts, golf, relay races, clay moulding, painting, drama sessions and lots more.

The camps take place weekdays (excluding bank holidays) between 24th July – 1st September, from 10.00am-4.00pm, with the option to extend from 8.15am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £20.00, with a discount available for booking a whole week. If you have three children, the 3rd child goes absolutely free! The Little Gym Chiswick

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, Hartington Road in Chiswick (just off the A316). They are Ofsted approved and filled with fitness, fun, gymnastics skills and obstacle courses that stimulate physical and motor-skill development, plus arts & crafts  when it’s time to take a break – all in a warm and nurturing environment. New this year, there are also Dance and Karate camps.

The camps take place on weekdays between 24th July – 25th August, from 9.30am-12.30pm or 1.30-4.30pm, or children can stay for the whole day (includes lunch). The cost is £42.00/session for members or £48.00/session for non-members, or £84.00/£96.00 for the whole day. Little Voices

For children aged 4 to 13 years.

This theatre week takes place at Putney High School on Putney Hill. Children will be singing, acting and dancing their way through ‘Wicked Meets The Wizard Of Oz’, learning an entire script in four days, and devising props and costumes in preparation for a big show at the end of the week. They’ll also make lots of new friends along the way!

Mad Science

For children aged 4 to 11 years.

These camps take place at the Chiswick Community School, Burlington Lane in Chiswick. Look no further for mega marvellous, mind-blowing experiments for your mini Mad Scientists, where the main aim is to have lots of fun!

The camps take place between 24th July – 25th August, from 10.00am-3.00pm. The cost is £36.00 per day, with various discounts available. You can book via the Mad Science website.

 

Mampara Dance

For children aged 6 to 15 years.

These camps take place at St Osmond’s Hall, Castelnau in Barnes. Camps combine dance and cheerleading with roles and activities to suit every level of fitness and physique, from stunts to tumbling to dance. The final day is show day! They’re a fantastic way to develop self confidence, discipline, creative thinking, team work, positivity, musicality, coordination, strength and so much more.

MV Academy

For children aged 4 to 17 years.

These summer schools take place at Richmond Adult Community College on Twickenham Road, and at Christ Church Hall, Christchurch Road in East Sheen. In Richmond children will enjoy an intensive week of acting, singing and dancing to put on a show in a week. In East Sheen there is an intensive dance week for experienced dancers, and a mini musical theatre week for younger children.

The summer schools take place between 14th – 18th August and 28th – 31st August, from 9.00am-5.00pm (Richmond), 11.00am-4.00pm (East Sheen Dance), and 9.00-11.00am (East Sheen Musical Theatre). The Richmond summer school costs £250.00, East Sheen Dance £175.00, and East Sheen Musical Theatre £60.00. You can fill in a booking form on their website.

 

NS Sport

For children aged 4 to 11 years.

These camps take place at East Sheen Primary School on the Upper Richmond Road. Children have the option of joining an NS Stars camp, where they enjoy a wide variety of six different activities each day, or an NS Strikers camp, which focuses solely on football. Either way, the camps provide a fun and friendly environment in which the kids can enjoy their holidays to the full.

The camps run weekdays (excluding bank holidays) between 24th July – 1st September, from 9.45am-4.15pm, which the option to extend from 8.00am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £23.00 per day, with a discount available for booking a whole week. You can book via their website.

 

Playball

For children aged 3 to 9 years.

These camps take place at Pools In The Park (Tennis Courts), Twickenham Road in Richmond. Children will participate in a range of instructor-led activities including fundamental skills for tennis, hockey, cricket, football, rugby, athletics, basketball, baseball and volleyball – just about any ball sport you can imagine – with a high emphasis on having fun.

The camps take place on various dates between 24th July – 30th August, from 10.00am-1.00pm. The daily cost is £25.00, with a £10.00 sibling discount available. Bookings must be made via their website.

 

Rocks Lane

For children from 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at Rocks Lane Multi-Sport Centre in Barnes. There are a huge range of tennis, football and multi-sports camps on offer for all abilities.

The camps take place weekdays between 17th July – 1st September at various times ranging from 1-5.5hrs long. Rocks Lane mainly operates a ‘holiday credits’ scheme whereby you purchase credits up front then call to book onto a specific course. Credits range from £7.00 each (when buying 40) to £11.50 each (when buying 1), and camps range from 1 to 5 credits. For more information see their website, or to book call 020 8876 8330.

 

Stagecoach

For children aged 6 to 11 years.

This five-day workshop takes place at Kings House School, Kings Road in Richmond. Children will enjoy an action-packed week of acting, singing and dancing – building confidence, making new friends, and having lots of fun. They will learn some exciting numbers from popular West End productions, and on the final day will showcase their new-found skills to family and friends.

Thames Young Mariners Adventure Zone

For children from 8 to 16 years.

These residentials start at Thames Young Mariners in Ham, travelling to High Ashurst (near Dorking), with pick up back at Thames Young Mariners. Children will enjoy three days of activities, staying two nights under canvas in a ‘base camp’ teepee village.. They will be able to try out lots of activities including high ropes, climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, bushcraft, evening campfire and games.

The residentials take place Wednesdays to Fridays between 26th July – 1st September. The cost is £199.00 for three days and two nights. For more information and to book, take a look at their website.

Tots In Action

For children aged 3.5 to 7 years.

These camps take place on Putney Common. Energetic tots will be entertained with fun multi-sports activities including micro rugby, mini tennis and other athletic events. They will learn important physical skills such as hand-eye coordination, catching/throwing and balance, as well as valuable social skills such as good sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership.

The camps take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays between 25th July – 1st September, from 9.00am-12.00pm.  The cost is £35.00 per day. For more information and to book, take a look at their website.

 

Wild Education

For children aged 4 to 11 years.

These camps takes place on Barnes Common (meet at the Vine Road Pavilion), and at Barn Elms (meet at the Barn Elms Sports Trust Car Park). Children will have a ‘wild’ time having fun, making new friends, learning life skills and being out in the fresh air getting muddy!

The two or three-day camps take place between 25th – 27th July, 17th – 18th August, and 23rd – 25th August, from 10.00am-2.00pm. The cost is £60.00 for the two-day camps or £90.00 for a three-day camp. You can book via their website. If Barnes is full, they also run the camps in Twickenham.

 

Wild Learning

For children aged 5 to 11 years.

These camps take place on Sheen Common. Children will enjoy a wild time in the woods, playing hide and seek in the oak clearing, or Ninja Frisbee on the meadow before den building, rope swinging and crafts.

The camps take place between 28th July – 23rd August, from 10.00am-4.00pm. The cost is £45.00 per day. You can book via their website.
