May Half Term Activities Camps

Almost half-term already… how did that happen?! If you’re looking for ways to entertain the kids, we’ve pulled together a listing of holiday camps and activities that are going on in the area. The listing is divided into half-term activities that you generally do together as a family, and drop-off camps and workshops which range from a couple of hours to a full day. We’re still in the process of adding things as and when we hear about them, so if you know of any more please do get in touch and let us know. FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Fulham Palace

30th May, 11.00am-3.00pm: Family Activity Day: The Tremendous Tudors at Fulham Palace. Travel back in time at half-term with tales of Queen Elizabeth I’s fantastic feast at Fulham Palace; a pop-up photo booth complete with top-to-toe Tudor garb; many objects to handle and a whole host of fun-filled crafts and games. Free; no booking necessary; suitable for 3+yrs.

Ham House

26th May to 3rd June, 10.00am-5.00pm: ‘50 Things To Do Before You’re 11¾’ at Ham House. Outdoor activities and children’s trail as part of ’50 things to do before you’re 11¾’. Pick up a nature-themed trail at Visitor Reception and go on a hunt for animal tracks or create some wild art. Why not join a ‘pick it, eat it, grow it’ workshop or play some outdoor games. Normal admission charges apply.

Hampton Court Palace

26th May to 3rd June, 11.00am-4.00pm: The Great Palace Quest at Hampton Court Palace in East Molesey. A fun activity trail map that takes families on a time-travelling voyage of discovery, searching for the Palace Quest code letters. Complete puzzles, games and challenges to find out about food and feasting at the palace. Work out what the code word is to win your prize! Included in normal admission.

Hounslow Urban Farm

26th May to 3rd June, 10.00am-5.00pm: Half term fun at the The Hounslow Urban Farm, Faggs Road in Feltham. There’s always lots going on at the farm throughout the year, and half term is a great chance to visit! Children can enjoy animal encounters, feeding the animals, owl display, pig meet & greets, and indoor  bouncy castle and outdoor play area. Normal entry fees apply.

Kew Gardens

26th May to 3rd June, 10.00am-6.00pm: Here Be Dragons at Kew Gardens. Not specifically for half-term, but this ongoing exhibition continues throughout half-term week. Marvel at an exhibition showcasing Blue Peter competition entries and follow the Dragon Trail, hunting for dragon sculptures around the Gardens. During the weekends and bank holiday Monday, you can also gasp in awe at a breathtaking aerial performance by Cirque Bijou in the rafters of the newly re-opened Temperate House (between 12.30-4.00pm). Normal admission charges apply.

London Museum Of Water And Steam

26th May to 3rd June, 10.00am-4.00pm: Trains, Trains, Trains! at the London Museum Of Water & Steam, Green Dragon Lane in Brentford. A festival of trains for all the family! Children will be able to enjoy a Museum trail uncovering interesting facts about railways from around the world. The Waterworks Railway will be running every day, plus Alister the Diesel Locomotive will be making special guest appearances on both weekends. The Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers will be operating a model railway featuring 16mm live steam engines in the Steam Hall, and the Hampton Court Model Railway Society will be joining in too over the Bank Holiday weekend. Friends of the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum will be making a comeback with their pop-up train museum, including a railway postcard display and lots of activities including badge and flag making. London Wetland Centre

26th May to 3rd June, 9.30am-4.30pm: May Half-Term Activities at the London Wetland Centre, Queen Elizabeth’s Walk in Barnes. Join in for some pond dipping and see what creatures you can find, grab a pot and net to search for minibeasts living in the wetlands or find out how and where to look for reptiles on the reptile walk. On the Saturdays & Sundays you can also enjoy Really Wild Weekends – two action-packed weekends where you can marvel at meerkats, be amazed by armadillos, see snakes, learn about lizards, and come face to face with fascinating giant bugs! Normal admission charges apply.

Museum Of Richmond

29th May to 1st June, 10.00am-12.00pm: Archaeology: A Murder Mystery! Workshops at the Museum Of Richmond, Whittaker Avenue in Richmond. A body has been discovered! The Museum needs your help to finish the archaeological dig and uncover the story of the person buried long ago… For ages 5-11yrs. £5.50 per child (adults free). Booking essential and can be done online.

Osterley Park

26th May to 3rd June, 11.00am-3.00pm: ‘50 Things To Do Before You’re 11¾’ at Osterley Park & House, Jersey Road in Isleworth. Have a go at our Bird Bingo, and tick off number 44 of the things to do before you’re 11¾. Take your scrapbook and collect a Bird Bingo sheet and binoculars from the Garden Kiosk. See how many of the birds you can find as you explore the gardens and play trail, then collect your sticker. On certain days there is also open air cinema, paddlesports, archery, forest school, expressive arts and more. See their What’s On page for more details. Normal admission charges apply.

 

DROP OFF CAMPS

Activ Camps

For children aged 4 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Barnes Sports Club, Lonsdale Road in Barnes. Children will enjoy fun-packed multi-activity camps run by fully trained, enthusiastic staff who create a happy and safe environment. Sessions include adapted versions of the more traditional sports (rugby, football, cricket, netball and rounders) as well as outright madness in the Body Zorbs or on giant inflatables. And with rock climbing, archery and Archery Tag also on offer, they’ve got it all.

The camps take place between 29th May – 1st June, from 8.30am-4.30pm (9.00am-1.00pm for 4 year olds), with a free extension until 5.30pm available on request. The cost is £39.00 per day (£27.50 for 4 year olds), with various discounts available. You can book via their website.

Annabel Croft Tennis Academy

For children aged 4 to 14 years.

These camps take place at the National Tennis Centre, Priory Lane in Roehampton. Children will enjoy a fantastic mix of technical learning, footwork drills and match play exercises, as well as lots of opportunities to play some of ACTA’s favourite tennis games.

The camps take place weekdays between 29th May – 1st June, from 10.00am-1.00pm. The cost is £40.00-£50.00 per day depending on age, with a discount available for booking the whole week. For more information or to book, please call 020 3170 8393 or fill in their online form.

Excel Sports

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps take place at Kings House Sports Ground, Riverside Drive in Chiswick (just the other side of Chiswick Bridge). They offer wonderful, safe, action-packed multi-sports camps, with superb tuition delivered by professional sports coaches who are also great fun! Sports include tennis, football, rugby, cricket, rounders, athletics and more. New for 2018, children can opt for netball-only or football-only camps if they prefer.

The camps take place between 29th May – 1st June, from 9.00am-3.00pm with half day options available from 9.00-11.30am or 12.30-3.00pm. The daily cost is £35.00 with a discount available for booking the whole week; half-days cost £18.00. You can book via their website, or they are happy for people to show up on the day as long as there is space.

Fit For Sport

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps takes place at Barnes Primary School, Cross Street in Barnes, and Sheen Mount Primary School in West Temple Sheen. They are a great way for children to keep active, have fun, make new friends, try something new and take part in a whole range of activities and sports.

The camps take place between 29th May – 1st June, from 9.30am-4.30pm with the option to extend from 8.30am-5.30pm (East Sheen) or 8.00am-6.00pm (Barnes), and with a half day option for younger children from 9.30am-1.00pm. The basic daily cost is £30.60-£36.25 (£22.95-£27.20 for a half-day), depending on location. You can book via their website.

KOOSA Kids

For children aged 4 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Orleans Park School, Richmond Road in Twickenham; Teddington Sports Centre, Broom Road in Teddington; Whitton Sports Centre, Percy Road in Whitton; and Shene Sports Centre, Park Avenue in East Sheen. This half-term the children will be off on an adventure into outer space… get ready for aliens, space ships, planets, asteroids and all your other space favourites!

The camps take place between 29th May – 1st June, from 10.00am-4.00pm, with the option to extend from 8.15am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £21.00, with a discount available for booking the whole week. If you have three children, the 3rd child goes absolutely free! Mother Nature Science

For children aged 5 to 12 years old.

These camps take place at Kings House School, King’s Road in Richmond. Children will enjoy a ‘weird science’ activity camp with a great mix of exciting demonstrations, hands-on experiments, team games and fun quizzes. Over the week there will be 30+ science activities and demonstrations.

The camps take place between 29th May – 1st June, from 9.00am-3.30pm, with the option to extend from 8.30am-4.00pm. The basic daily cost is £60.00, or £195.00 for all four days (limited availability for daily places). You can book online or by calling 020 8863 8832.

NS Sports

For children aged 4 to 11 years.

These camps take place at East Sheen Primary School, Upper Richmond Road West in East Sheen, and at Meadlands Primary School, Broughton Avenue in Ham. Children can choose form a multi-activity camp including two sports sessions, an outdoor events session, arts and crafts, indoor and a free choice play session; or a football-only camp.

The camps take place between 29th May – 1st June, from 9.45am-4.15pm, with the option to extend from 8.00am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £24.00, with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book online.

Rocks Lane Barnes

For children aged 3 to 16 years.

These camps take place at Rocks Lane Multi-Sport Centre in Barnes. Rocks Lane prides itself on its excellent coaching, all weather facilities, and a diverse range of sporting opportunities; and there are a range of tennis, football and multi-sports camps on offer for all ages and abilities.

The camps take place between 29th May – 1st June, at various times ranging from 2-5 hours long. Rocks Lane operates a ‘holiday credits’ scheme whereby you purchase credits up front then call to book onto a specific course. Credits range from £7.00 each (when buying 40) to £11.50 each (when buying 1), and camps range from 2 to 4 credits. For more information see their website, or to book call 020 8876 8330.

Sheen Parks Tennis

For children aged 3 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Palewell Common and Sheen Common in East Sheen; and at Cambridge Gardens, Clevedon Road in East Twickenham. These fun packed holiday camps are for children of all abilities to help develop essential tennis skills.

The camps take place between 28th May – 1st June, with half hour sessions for tots (3/4yrs) and 2-3hr sessions for minis/juniors (5-8/9-16yrs), with a whole-day option too. Tots camps cost £9.25 per day, 2hr camps cost £22.00 per day, 3hr camps cost £33.00 per day, and a whole day (9.30am-3.30pm) costs £66.00. There is a discount available for booking the whole week. Spin Into Tennis

For children from 3 to 18 years.

These camps take place at Sheen Tennis Club, Fife Road in East Sheen. Children will be able to develop their tennis skills, whether they play for fun, fitness or want to compete at a higher level.

The camps take place between 28th May – 1st June, from 9.00am-12.00pm or from 9.00am-2.00pm. The daily cost for non-members is £30.00 per half-day or £45.00 per day, with a discount available for booking a whole week. You can book online.

Thames Young Mariners Adventure Zone

For children from 6 to 16 years.

These camps take place at Thames Young Mariners, Riverside Drive in Ham. There are Young Explorers camps for 6/7yrs focussing on different team challenges through the week, and Multi-Activity camps for 8-16yrs (split into juniors and seniors, with activities such as archery, climbing, team tasks and woodland skills.

The camps take place between 29th May – 1st June, from 9.30am-4.30pm. The Young Explorers camps are £45.00 per day; the Multi-Activity camps are £90.00 for two days. You can book online.

Top Tennis Coaching

For children aged 3 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Barnes Tennis Club, Lonsdale Road in Barnes. are a great way to introduce children to sport in a fun environment. Each session includes coaching, team games and play.

The camps take place between 28th May – 1st June, with different time slots for different age groups: 3-7yrs 9.00-11.00am; 8-10yrs 11.00am-1.00pm; 10-14yrs 1.00-3.00pm. The cost is £20.00 per day with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book via their website. 

Wild Learning

For children aged 5 to 11 years.

These camps takes place on Sheen Common in East Sheen. Find your way through the woods to the base camp, maybe stopping on the way to play hide and seek in the oak clearing, or Ninja Frisbee on the meadow before den building, rope swinging or crafts at main camp.

The camps take place between 29th – 31st May, from 10.00am-4.00pm. The daily cost is £45.00. You can book online.
